Omni Interlocken Golf Club is a 27-hole facility located about 15 minutes outside of Boulder in Broomfield, Colorado. It was designed by Graham and Panks International, the collaboration of 1981 U.S. Open Champion David Graham and Gary Panks (who also designed the courses at Whirlwind Golf Club among others) and opened in 1999. Golf Academy: Three Tough Shots Made Easier

May 23, 2015

The Golf Academy of America sends out a quarterly newsletter to current and prospective students and alumni. The feature in this issue that caught my eye – Helpful Tips for Every Golfer. One reason golf intrigues us so much is because there are so many factors that contribute to hitting a good shot. Even if you hit a good shot, additional contributing factors could still force you into a bad situation: Distance….

Todd Sones: Choosing the Right Putter Model

May 22, 2015

Todd Sones is back with another putting tip. This time – choosing the putter model that’s right for you. Player preference is the most important consideration. You just want to make sure that you’re specs (length, weight, loft, and lie) and correct. Todd knows what he’s talking about. I can hit a…

He makes annual visits to all five of the Golf Academy campuses nationwide, and because most of the articles he sends out in his email blasts are topics we cover in class, I feel it’s important to pass them along. Congratulations are also…

The Importance of The Last Lecture

May 20, 2015

I’ve heard of The Last Lecture before, but until today, I had never watched it. The opportunity came up in my Verbal Communications Skills class because we have to give four different types of speeches this semester: demonstrative, informative, persuasive, and inspirational. I’m glad I got to see it, and I highly recommend it because it’ll really put things in perspective. If you don’t know about The Last Lecture, the…

Skills Development: Putting Drills

May 19, 2015

One of the things I like most about being at the Golf Academy is that I can see how each class I’ve taken so far will be helpful to me in my golf career. My first two years at Arizona State, I took a lot of classes that didn’t seem applicable to a career in Broadcast Journalism. I just wanted to get on with it! Here, there’s very little wasted time – probably because the program is…
