Rare Occurrence at La Paloma

February 27, 2017

In what can only be described as a rare three-peat, three different members made holes-in-one during La Paloma Country Club’s 60-person Men’s/Women’s Golf Association Tournament Saturday. Bruce Gibbins made a hole-in-one from 128 yards out on Hill No. 8 using a 9-iron. Chris Coxall made his ace with a 30-degree hybrid from 163 yards out on Ridge No. 7. And Tim Fazio made his double eagle on Hill No. 8 from the same distance…

Hideki Matsuyama’s slow play is painful to watch and sets a bad example. And while I don’t condone heckling a tournament leader, I’ve never seen a guy back off a shot or let go of the club on more shots both good and bad than Matsuyama did this week at the Phoenix Open. Pull the trigger! That’s why he’s Hideki Dramayama.

It Really Is That Epic

February 3, 2017

Callaway’s new Great Big Bertha Epic driver series was officially released last Friday, and I can already report from first-hand experience, that it’s exactly what everyone was predicting it would be: epic (please excuse the pun and allow me to explain). We recently hosted a nine-person, appointment-only fitting at La Paloma Country Club in the days leading up to the product launch, and promptly went nine-for-nine! Everyone who tried the…
