Jim Furyk, the last man on the PGA Tour to shoot 59, just shot a 12-under 58 at the Travelers Championship, a new Tour record. Damn that’s low!

Just heard some disturbing stats on the heels of Nike getting away from golf equipment and Adidas looking to sell-off TaylorMade: in 2013, 14 new golf courses opened in the U.S. while 160 closed, golf ratings are down 50%, and country club memberships are off 30%.

The last five major winners have all been first-timers. In the Masters era, first-timers have won all four majors in the same calendar year only five times: 1959, 1969, 2003, 2011, and now 2016.

I don’t blame that bladed bunker shot on Steve Wheatcroft. There was no sand in the bunker! Are they running low on sand in Canada? C’mon.

Phil Mickelson (65) didn’t lose the Open Championship at Royal Troon. Henrik Stenson (63) just went out and won it! One of the best final rounds I’ve ever seen.
