One of the hardest things to do in golf is to take your game from the driving range or the practice tee to the golf course. In recent weeks, PGA Professional Gary Balliet has given us different drills to help us do just that. That’s what Golf Performance Enhancement is all about.
This morning, class met back out at Bear Creek in Chandler – this time to practice the Tee Shot Game. This game replicates the kind of pressure you’ll feel when you absolutely have to put your ball in the fairway.
Pick a target fairway of your choice that is approximately 30 yards (90 feet) wide. Designate a “wrong side” and a “bailout side.” If you miss the target area on the wrong side, you lose two points. If you miss the target area on the bailout side, you get zero points. Hit 14 drives to the target area.
You get one point for every target fairway you hit for the first ten tee shots. The values for tee shots 11-13 are worth double. The value for tee shot No. 14 is worth triple. See how many total points you can get.
