A: A popular early-season event in which novice or occasional players do not yet have a handicap. In this instance, a player’s handicap is determined by deducting from his total gross score, the scores of his worst individual holes for 16 holes of the round +/- a certain stroke adjustment. The gross score shot, as indicated by a table, determines the number of worst holes.
