The other day, I got an email from our Callaway Rep, Eric Strader. Generally, I try not to glean a person’s tone from text or email, but knowing Strader, he was running hot! It was about the ball. Here’s what he wrote:
Good evening,
Callaway Golf continues to be the innovation leader in the Golf Ball Category, and with that, our momentum in the marketplace has been incredible. Innovations such as SoftFast Core, Graphene infused Dual SoftFast Core, and Hex Aerodynamics are key to revolutionizing the way our golf balls are made and perform.
These performance advantages – faster ball speeds, lower spinning full shots with softer feel, and greenside control are benefiting amateur golfers and the best players in the world! Recent Tour wins by Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson, Marc Leishman, Aaron Wise, and Michelle Wie have validated the Tour-proven performance of the Chrome Soft golf balls.
Recently, you have seen other companies following our lead, introducing golf balls with claims of similar construction and performance. You may have also received a communication from the sales team of one of these companies with claims of superior performance from their recently-launched premium golf ball.
Instead of countering their message with a “he said, she said” argument, we asked Golf Laboratories, an Independent 3rd party testing company to give us their insights on the performance of Chrome Soft versus the Titleist AVX.
The setup conditions for the test were 90mph Head Speed, 130mph Ball Speed, 10deg Launch, and 2,500 spin with a non-Callaway Driver and 109mph Ball Speed, 17deg Launch, and 6,300 spin with a non-Callaway 6-iron.
Chrome Soft was longer with a higher ball flight with both the driver and the 6-iron.
Additionally, in testing we have done, golfers believed the Chrome Soft had a softer feel and increased greenside spin and control over the AVX.
We appreciate your continued support and your commitment to give golfers the freedom to choose the ball that works best for them!
