Let me start by saying I’ve never lived in a state or a climate cold enough where not playing golf was my reality. I grew up in Arizona and moved to Louisiana, then South Carolina, and back to Arizona.
I’ve only ever shoveled snow twice, so I don’t know what it’s like to look outside and see nothing but snow and ice for miles. That sounds pretty miserable!
If you’re still socked-in at the moment, maybe TaylorMade’s new “Waiting for Golf” commercial will buoy your spirits. TaylorMade has its own YouTube channel. I saw it while watching NBC’s coverage of the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral in sunny South Florida (sorry to rub it in, again).
I understand it’s only been out for a couple of days now, but it’s fantastic. In fact, I’m not afraid to call it the greatest golf commercial I’ve ever seen. See if you don’t agree:
Blogger’s Note:
Me and six of my Golf Academy classmates are playing in the PGA of America Playing Ability Test this morning at Ken McDonald Golf Course in Tempe. It’s a 36-hole (in the same day) event on a 6,300-yard course with a target score of 154. Par is 72, so a pair of 77s will get you through. It’s also a must-pass for anyone in pursuit of their PGA Class A Certification, or better yet, a job at GolfTEC.
In my last three practice rounds at Kenny Mac, I’ve shot a combined score of 11 under par (69-68-68), 21 shots better than the ten-over target score I need to make it. I’m not just looking to pass, I’m looking to go low! The weather forecast looks pretty good, and I’ve got the course all mapped out. I’ll try my best to post an update later tonight.
Well, how’d the PAT go buddy??
Passed it with flying colors!!
